Perfect for most cantilevers~

We have two of these weight sets and they're great. We have a newer, fancy umbrella which has a step to rotate it. These weights don't exactly fit if you want to rotate it easily, so we remove one weight to rotate the umbrella and slide it back in. It isn't ideal, but we kept the set because we've had great luck with the other set, which we've had for quite a while.

Does the job as advertised.

I filled mine with very small gravel rocks and it supports a really large 10 foot over hang umbrella with no problem even in mild to moderately high winds. I'm very pleased.

A lot of weight.

This is for the octagon base. I knocked off a star only because I think this is a little over priced.

Good Quality

Good quality base. We used the sand method to fill it to give extra weight for our 10 foot cantilever umbrella and it hasn't moved an inch. As other reviews state, it is kind of a pain to fill up with the sand but we figured out a shortcut to speed it up. Cut off the bottom of a plastic milk jug and use it's spout over the hole to slowly pour in the sand and it goes a lot faster with less mess. Also, this base is pretty big so measure your space first.

very sturdy

The large patio umbrellas will always be affected by the wind. These weigh the umbrella base frame very well. I used water but they can also be filled with sand (a long process) or wet sand for the heaviest result (probably not a good idea in areas that have freezing weather. Anyways, I used water with no leaks. Today is a very windy day and the folded umbrella is not moving ... so it is doing its job. On other days when I have the umbrella extended out, the umbrella base has held the umbrella in place during moderate wind ... I would not want to leave the umbrella open in todays wind ... it would be gone no matter how much weight I put on it.

It was kind of breezy the day I assembled mine. No swaying (although I wouldn't suggest using your umbrella in the wind).

hope you have sponges.

Hard to tell just how stable this products is, as two out of four base pieces leak at their mold line. this wasnt damaged in transit, it was never sealed at the factory. Half of the product is unusable. AND if you don't have the original huge box and any paper work that came with it, you can't return it. This company should not be able to sell on Amazon with this kind of consumer predation. Every other seller that has returns, has you bring the item to ups, and they package it up and send the junk back to china. STAY away from this, much better choices on Amazon for this type of product.

Sturdy, but filling with sand is a nightmare

I'm using this with an 11-ft Hampton Bay umbrella I got from Home Depot. It holds the cantilever quite securely, although the ends of the cross-shaped base stick out about 3-inches past the base, so I may have to trim it down a bit.
